Dr Cheng has been in clinical practice for more than 40 years, first serving as a dentist in the Bukit Timah region. Seeing purpose in TCM, Dr Cheng furthered his clinical skills, becoming a registered TCM physician in Singapore. His strong belief in education led him to serve as lecturer at the Singapore College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, later becoming the Principal.

 After stepping down from the role of Principal, Dr Cheng wanted to continue serving and providing quality TCM services, thus opening Serenity TCM Centre.
